Veterans Paying the Ultimate Sacrifice

In many ways, veterans follow Jesus' example of giving their lives for the freedom of others.  On this Veteran's Day, lets remember the millions of lives lost in the name of freedom.  Lets pay respect to our veterans by praying for them and thanking them for their amazing sacrifice.

Going to Mass

Going to mass can become a monotonous activity if we lose sight of who we are and why we are there.  Remember that when we enter the church, we are entering the house of God.  We are there to pay respect to our Lord, and to honor our Creator.  Many times we go because we feel we have to, but not out of true love for our Lord.  Lets encourage ourselves to come to this gathering place with joy in our hearts, knowing that we will be sharing the body of Christ.  Lets come prepared for the feast!

Baptism

During the last two weeks, we have been focusing on the first sacrament, which is Baptism.  Most of you were surprised to find out that you are "priestly, prophetic and royal" people because you have all been baptized.  Isn't it amazing that each of us becomes a prince and a princess in the kingdom of God?  Your baptism transformed you into a child of God and a member of the greatest kingdom there is--What else can you ask for?

The Seven Sacraments

This week we have been talking about how the seven sacraments are signs of God's love for us.  We classified the sacraments into three main groups: 1) Sacraments of Initiation, 2) Sacraments of Service and  3) Sacraments of Healing.  The initiation sacraments are baptism, confirmation and eucharist; the service sacraments are matrimony and holy orders.  The healing sacraments are reconciliation and anointing of the sick.  Which is your favorite sacrament?

We're on Vacation

Our life on Earth is a trip to many destinations, none of which we can call home. Our real home is in heaven, and one thing is for sure: Our vacation will one day end, and we will have to return home. Just like in any other vacation, when all is well and we are having fun, we forget we have to go back--We actually beg to stay longer. The opposite is also true. If we experience delays, change of plans, sickness or any other misfortune, we say things like, "I'm dieing to go home!" And that is literally what we will do. So lets enjoy our vacation even if we experience hardships. Enjoy the people we meet, the food we eat and all the things we do. When we least expect it, it'll be time to go back home.
